Curso de verano "Print Culture in 16th-century Europe" (3-7 Julio 2017, Universidad de Amberes)

Una vez más, y, para aquellos a quienes pueda interesar, difundimos la información que nos proporciona el Consorcio de Bibliotecas Europeas de Investigación  (CERL) sobre el curso de Historia del libro organizado por la Universidad de Amberes bajo el título "La cultura impresa en Europa durante el siglo XVI" y que tendrá lugar del 3 al 7 de julio de 2017. From 3 to 7 July 2017, the University of Antwerp will organize a one-week summer school on "Print Culture in 16th-Century Europe". The intensive programme includes workshops and presentations on various topics such as:

  • book and library history of the 16th century (typographical design, illustration, printing, bookbinding, editorial strategies and the history of bookselling...)
  • bibliography
  • digital humanities
  • 16th-century genres such as printed bibles, scholarly text editions, herbals, narrative literature
  • the presentation of 16th-century books to a 21st-century audience

The international summer school is meant specifically for doctoral students intending to integrate book historical approaches into their research.

 

Speakers include 18 experts from Belgium, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. All sessions will be in English.

The venue will be the city campus of the University of Antwerp, in the historical centre of the city. Some sessions will take place at the famous Plantin-Moretus Museum and at the stylish Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library. Illustrated lectures will alternate with hands-on sessions and with visits to book historical exhibitions.

The detailed programme and the application procedure are available via www.uantwerpen.be/print-culture. The application deadline is 19 April 2017. The summer school has a numerus clausus of 20 participants.

The registration fee of 500,- euro includes course material, a welcome drink, coffee breaks, lunches and the farewell dinner. It does not include lodging.
