Citation tools

Bibliographic managers allow you to organize your research and easily create footnotes, citations and bibliographies for your academic works.

You can forget about text documents with a list of bibliographies in different formats that you cannot consult and incorporate easily in your coursework. With these tools you will be able to organize your readings efficiently throughout your studies.

There are multiple reference managers, some free, some paid. Through the library, any UCM student, faculty or researcher has access to the following reference managers:

  • EndNote is an online service associated with the Web of Science database. It allows importing documents and references from electronic and Web sources, generating bibliographies in multiple formats. A software version is also available for UCM members.
  • Mendeley has a free and an institutional version, offers the possibility to save electronic documents along with references. Requires software installation. It allows importing references, archiving documents, generating bibliographies and access from mobile devices.
  • Refworks also allows the management of research documents and web pages and their metadata.
  • Zotero is a free open source bibliographic manager. It allows you to capture references from the internet, organize data and documents, enter citations, generate bibliographies, etc.
