      ABSTRACT

Among the funds in the Historical Library of the University Complutense retained a copy of one of the most significant works of the work of the Florentine designer Ferdinando Tacca, the Hipermestra of Moniglia, Giovanni Andrea (1624-1700) Music and libretto by Francesco Cavalli ( 1602-1676). And with the added value of the artwork with which contains the set designs, compared to a single print of the same book deposited at the Getty Foundation of California, lacking all the other copy thereof deposited in the National Library of Madrid, of which appear to have cut.

In the Past, the designer was not only the creator of theatrical scenery. It was the artist of the staging and perhaps the best representative of the integration of Arts. The ceremonies, the Festival and especially theatrical decorations, both inside and outside the building that eventually became versatile in the Theatre, some of the channels are representative of the whole expression of the Baroque. Quadratturas, Glorias, Flights, Apotheosis were some of the terms coined to describe the tools that they used in the creation and decoration of the frame, movement, and the semiotics of the shows. However, the recreational component per se did not exist but merely as a secondary dressing. The main thing was the teaching of Power and the Glory.
